Simply put, digital footprints are what everyone leaves behind when they do anything on the Internet. They can be created as websites leave cookies to create a profile about the user, or browsers saving your search history. By looking at the digital footprints people leave behind, companies can create a profile of what you like, where you live, and who your friends are.
