Have a Good Password

25496.jpg

One way to maintain a good footprint is to have a good password. A good password is long, has letters (uncapitalized and capitalized), symbols, and numbers. You could try to test out your password using How Secure Is My Password. Also, be sure not to use the same password for multiple sites. If a hacker does manage to find out your password, he now knows the passwords to all the other sites you made accounts on. This way your account wont get stolen and have a hacker post things on your behalf.

Think Before Sharing

Think Before Sharing

Always think before sharing something. Since everything posted online is permanent, if you think you'll post something you'll regret, don't do it. Likewise, think about posting things that will affect you positively; such as volunteering at a community centre, or playing an instrument, or other things that are generally deemed positive. If you enjoy drawing, consider making a blog and posting your pictures there to slowly build an online portfolio that you can use to show to potential companies that you may want to work for.

Manage Your Privacy

Privacy.jpg

Make sure to change your privacy settings on social media accounts when making them. It is usually best if only friends can see what you post. Also, do not share any private information to strangers; where you live or age. Keep your password private. Don't even tell friends or family members your password. If someone online is being too inquisitive, it's alright to block them and tell a trusted adult. It doesn't have to be a thing where you have to solve it yourself.
